Practicing The Way Of Jesus Together
At Crossway, we take intentional steps toward living our lives the way Jesus would live them if he were us. What helps us make progress in this endeavor is developing spiritual practices and habits like prayer or silence or service or study or intentional community with others. The point of these practices is not to be really good at the practices themselves, but to experience the positive results of consistently doing the practices.
God is love. He has compassion for all people where we are, in our brokenness, because he knows where we can be through Christ.
Matthew 9:36 and 2 Corinthians 1:34
Jesus is the truth. As followers of Jesus, we are called to live and to minister following the Bible, the written truth. To the best of our ability, we will be true - to Jesus, to the Bible, to ourselves, and to each other.
John 1:14 and 3 John 1:4
The joy of the Lord is our strength. This joy transcends circumstances, good and bad. God walks with us and, in spite of ourselves, he has rescued us. God wants our engagement and promises that we will be home with him one day. Therefore, to the best of our ability, we will live with joy.
Psalm 126:3 and John 15:10-11
Since the creation of the world, God has been inviting people to trust him. Those who accept this call to action experience abundant life. Trust is paramount in our relationship with God and, made in the image of God, trust also is vital in our relationships with others. Therefore, to the best of our ability, we will trust God and build relationships of trust with one another.
Psalm 143:8 and Proverbs 3:5-6
Recognizing that everything belongs to God, generosity is joyfully giving to further His Kingdom in this world. Just as God was generous in sending his Son, and Jesus generously gave his life for us, we are called to be generous with what God has entrusted to us - our time, talent and treasure. God will provide for us as individuals and as a church, when we are generous.
